Eastbourne Tyre Company was founded in 1925 by Nelson Ashby (the present
owners grandfather) and moved to its current location in 1926.
Then they would retread tyres on site as well as being vulcanised repair specialists.
Nelson's son-in-law, Charles Price joined the family business at the age of 15
and, apart from the war years’ spent the whole of his working life at the
Tyre Co.At first it was along side Nelson, and then as proprietor.
Charles introduced the art of battery making and repairing to the co., which
he carried out well into the late 1970s.
Keith Price, Charles' son, the 3rd generation at the company and the present proprietor, has been with the firm for 40
years.
The present staff of 11 amass a total of some 200 years in the
tyre industry, something, which benefits both the customer and our company, for
there is no substitute for experience.
The standard of work and the level of service offered to the customer are both of the highest quality and this
has been the foundation of the company’s continued success, now in its 83rd year.
